Examples of typical restorations: a scooter that runs, has all its bodywork intact, and only requires new paint and very few parts to restore the engine: $3000 - $3500.

A scooter missing panels or needing excessive bodywork, with a frozen engine and/or other major problems: $4500-$6000. Some vintage scooters are certainly worth that kind of money, time, and effort, while some are definitely not.

We choose each restoration carefully, investing the time and materials when the end result will meet our strict standards for finished vintage Vespas. But if you have a special scooter needing some serious attention...give us a call today!

Costs and times associated with each step of Our Detailed Restoration Process:
(All prices and times listed are based on typical situations, but vary with each restoration)

1. Component Separation: This is essentially a pure shop time/labor charge. Each scooter is stripped down to its component pieces (bodywork, engine, etc.). It takes an average of 8 hours to complete this step, but for older, rusted, or otherwise badly damaged scooters, this time can increase exponentially. Moto Bravo’s current hourly Labor Rate: $65/hr.

2. Paint Removal: We chemically strip the body to bare metal, creating the best possible surface for further bodywork. Typical paint stripping costs $100+/-.

3. Repainting: Scooters are repainted using a careful four-step process that will protect the metal and create a beautiful, long-lasting finish. Many colors are available to choose from, and the cost of repainting will vary with each restoration. Labor and materials typically cost somewhere between $700 and $1500.

4. Engine Rebuild: Moto Bravo has 2 levels of engine rebuilds for typical restorations:
1. Light Engine Restoration: Engine runs well but is showing age: $450 + parts
2. Restoration Rebuild: All external parts are throughly cleaner, all adjusters and external hardware replaced, repainted or zinc coated. We create a perfectly running engine, which will also look brand new. Costs roughly $600 + parts.

5. Optional Powder Coating: Powder coating is a strong, long lasting finish applied to all the smaller exposed metal parts of your scooter to protect and return them to their original color. This option will typically cost between $200 and $400.

6. Polishing: Moto Bravo will polish all the metal parts on the scooter. Polishing is the traditional method of restoration. All aluminium parts—Fender Crests, Levers, Fuel Knobs, Brake Arms, etc.—will be polished to a brilliant reflective finish. Labor and materials for polishing will typically average between $100 and $300.

7. New Parts: This is a step very difficult to average in price or labor. It is the replacement of all wearable parts of your scooter, the key to making any reconditioned scooter look like new again. EVERYTHING that is worn or old is replaced. This includes, but is not limited to: Cables, Wiring Loom, Rubber Grommets, Tires, Inner Tubes, Brakes, Switches, Switch Covers, Seat Covers, Seat Frames, Taillights, Headlights, Speedometer Face and Lens, Floor Channels, Endcaps, and Locks. A relatively huge price variable is to be expected, as every scooter is treated differently and each requires a unique list of replacement parts. Prices typically range between $500 and $1500+, depending on Model, availability, and overall condition of original parts.

8. Final Assembly: Once the painted frame and body parts are returned from our outsourced providers, the engine is rebuilt, and the powder coating and polishing are completed, we start the reassembly of each scooter. This is very labor intensive. It will include running brand new cables and a new wiring loom, rebuilding the forks, installing the engine, installing new floor channel kit, installing forks, and everything needed to deliver a superior vehicle. This is the most important aspect of the restoration, and Moto Bravo guarantees your satisfaction with the finished scooter. Labor Rate $65/hour Hours: from 20 to 40
